§ 35-3-202. CANVASSING PROHIBITED IN COUNTY; EXCEPTIONS.

  • (a)

    Prohibition generally. A person may not engage in canvassing for the purchase, sale, or lease of residential property in the county.

    (b)

    Exceptions. The following may not be considered engaging in canvassing:

    (1)

    Advertising in a newspaper of general circulation, on radio, or on television;

    (2)

    Distributing literature through the United States mail;

    (3)

    Obtaining business through legitimate personal referrals;

    (4)

    Having contacts with property owners resulting from the owner having personally advertised the property for sale; or

    (5)

    Soliciting for the purpose of obtaining information for appraisals or similar collecting of general sales or market data.
