§ 35-3-201. DEFINITIONS.
(a)
In general. In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.
(b)
Canvassing.
(1)
(i)
"Canvassing" means a solicitation by a person in order to obtain a listing of real property or to confer with the owner regarding a real estate transaction.
(ii)
"Canvassing" includes door-to-door solicitation or solicitation by use of circulars, visitations, or telephone.
(2)
"Canvassing" does not include solicitations where the canvasser or the employer of the canvasser are invited or requested by the owner.
(c)
Owner
(1)
"Owner" means a person having the right of ownership or possession or the right to sell, rent, or lease real property.
(2)
"Owner" includes a lessee, sublessee, assignee, or managing agent.
