§ 4-4-103. APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS.

  • (a)

    In general. Appointments to jobs in the classified service shall be made in accordance with this article and the Personnel Rules.

    (b)

    Merit and fitness. Appointments and promotions shall be based on merit and fitness.

    (c)

    Examinations - Purpose. As far as practicable, competitive examinations shall be used and conducted to aid in the selection of employees qualified for appointments and promotions.

    (d)

    Same - Content. An examination conducted under this section may consist of any appropriate combination of recognized selection techniques, any or all of which, in the judgment of the Director of Human Resources, will test fairly the qualifications of a candidate, including:

    (1)

    Achievement and aptitude tests and other written tests;

    (2)

    Personal interviews;

    (3)

    Performance tests;

    (4)

    Evaluations of daily work;

    (5)

    Work samples; and

    (6)

    Physical and medical tests.
