§ 3-9-102. ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY.
(1)
The county may:
(i)
Acquire by purchase, gift, devise, or condemnation real or leasehold property needed for a public purpose; and
(ii)
Erect buildings on acquired real or leasehold property for public use.
(2)
Real or leasehold property may be acquired in fee or otherwise.

Annotation:
Former § 2-1 of the code (1958) authorizes the county to acquire real or leasehold property for any public purpose. The County Executive has the power to negotiate leases and to bind the county thereto without the necessity of any previous authorization or approval by the County Council. Hormes v. Baltimore County, 225 Md. 371, 170 A.2d 772 (1961).
