§ 3-8-101. DEFINITIONS.

  • (a)

    In general. In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.

    (b)

    Photograph. "Photograph" means a photograph, photocopy, or microphotograph.

    (c)

    Record. "Record" means a book, paper, photograph, map, electronic record, or other documentary material, regardless of physical form or characteristic, created or received by a unit in accordance with law or in connection with the transaction of public business and preserved or considered appropriate for preservation by the unit or its legitimate successor, as evidence of the organization, functions, policies, decisions, procedures, or operations of the unit, or because of the informational value of the data contained in the record.

    (d)

    Record retention schedule. "Record retention schedule" means an itemized list of the retention periods established for the records of a unit in accordance with the provisions of this title.

    (e)

    Records Management Officer. "Records Management Officer" means the Director of the Office of Information Technology or the Director's designee.

    (f)

    Retention period. "Retention period" means the period of time for which a record is required to be retained.

    (g)

    Unit. "Unit" means a department, office, bureau, committee, board, commission, or other organizational unit of the government of the county.
