§ 3-3-605. POLICY; GOALS.

  • (a)

    Policy. The county:

    (1)

    Believes that a Commission on Disabilities is necessary to advise the County Executive on the coordination and development of the county's policies for citizens with disabilities; and

    (2)

    Endorses the policy that a qualified individual may not be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity of the county because of the individual's disability.

    (b)

    Goals. The goals of the Commission are to:

    (1)

    Achieve an effective and systematic delivery of public, private, and consumer resources to all citizens with disabilities in the county;

    (2)

    Identify the strengths and weaknesses in programs, services, and resources available to citizens with disabilities; and

    (3)

    Propose the means for meeting the needs of citizens with disabilities.
