§ 3-3-503. MEMBERSHIP.
(a)
Composition; appointment of members.
(1)
The Commission on Arts and Sciences consists of 17 members.
(2)
Of the 17 members:
(i)
The County Executive shall appoint 10 members; and
(ii)
Each member of the County Council shall appoint 1 member who resides in the Council member's district.
(b)
Qualifications. Each member of the Commission:
(1)
Must be a resident of the county; and
(2)
May not be a salaried manager, administrator, or director of an organization that promotes arts and sciences activities in the county.
(c)
Tenure; vacancies.
(1)
The term of a member is 3 years and begins on January 1.
(2)
Successors to vacated position on the commission shall be appointed as provided in subsection (a)(2)(i) or (ii) of this section, as applicable.
(d)
Removal.
(1)
This subsection does not apply to absences excused by the chairman of the Commission.
(2)
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a Commission member's appointment to the Commission is automatically terminated if the member is absent from more than three Commission meetings in 1 year.
