§ 3-3-504. OFFICERS.

  • (a)

    In general. The Commission on Arts and Sciences shall elect one of its members to be its chairman and another to be vice-chairman:

    (1)

    Every 2 years, at the first meeting in May; or

    (2)

    As required by vacancy.

    (b)

    Powers and duties.

    (1)

    The chairman shall preside at all meetings of the Commission.

    (2)

    The vice-chairman shall have the powers and duties assigned by the Commission or by the chairman.

    (3)

    If the chairman is temporarily absent or unable to perform the duties of the chairman, the vice-chairman shall perform the duties of that office.

    (4)

    If the chairman is permanently absent or unable to perform the duties of the chairman:

    (i)

    The vice-chairman shall become the chairman and serve as chairman until the expiration of the original chairman's term as chairman or the expiration of the vice-chairman's term as a member of the Commission, whichever is sooner; and

    (ii)

    The Commission shall elect a new vice-chairman to serve as vice-chairman until the expiration of the original vice-chairman's term as vice-chairman or the expiration of the new vice-chairman's term as a member of the Commission, whichever is sooner.
