§ 3-2-103. DUTIES.

  • The Department of Aging shall:

    (1)

    Coordinate and evaluate all federal, state, and local programs and services that relate to and are important to the well-being of elderly individuals in the county, including programs and services in the areas of nutrition, housing, health care, recreation, education, transportation, employment, income maintenance, legal assistance, information and referral, and individual and family assistance;

    (2)

    Implement programs and services necessary to the well-being of elderly individuals in the county;

    (3)

    Develop plans and programs affecting the health, safety, and well-being of elderly individuals in the county;

    (4)

    Coordinate the activities of the department with both public and private organizations for the development of programs related to elderly individuals in the county;

    (5)

    Maintain a liaison with the State Department on Aging and State Commission on Aging; and

    (6)

    Administer assistance programs made available to the county through the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the state government on the problems of the elderly.
