§ 32-2-201. PLANNING BOARD.

  • (a)

    Preparation, adoption, and amendment of proposed plan.

    (1)

    The Planning Board shall:

    (i)

    Prepare a proposed Master Plan for the physical development of the county;

    (ii)

    After a public hearing, adopt the proposed Master Plan either as a whole or severally, and either for the entire county or for any logical unit for planning; and

    (iii)

    Conduct studies in connection with the Master Plan.

    (2)

    Wherever feasible and appropriate, the Planning Board shall conduct the studies required under paragraph (1)(iii) of this subsection with the cooperation of federal, state, regional, county, municipal or any other agency involved in planning.

    (3)

    The Planning Board may propose amendments to the Master Plan.

    (b)

    Considerations. In the preparation of the proposed Master Plan, the Planning Board shall:

    (1)

    Give due consideration to the probable ability of the county to carry out, in the period covered by the current capital program and in successive periods covered by future capital programs, the various public or quasi-public projects covered in the plan without the imposition of unreasonable financial burdens; and

    (2)

    Conduct comprehensive surveys and studies of present conditions and the prospects for future growth of the county.
