§ 28-1-102. TRANSPORTATION OF PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS - AUTHORIZED.

  • (a)

    In general. Except as otherwise provided by law, the Baltimore County Board of Education shall provide to a child who attends a private school transportation on a public school bus or conveyance if:

    (1)

    The child resides near a public highway of the county on which the Board operates a public school bus or conveyance for transporting children to and from county public schools; and

    (2)

    The Board can provide the transportation from a point on the public highway nearest or most accessible to the child's home to a point on the public highway nearest or most accessible to the child's private school without changing the routes that are established by the Board for transporting children to and from public schools.

    (b)

    Terms and conditions.

    (1)

    The Board may determine reasonable terms and conditions for transporting children to and from private schools which, to the extent possible, shall be similar to the terms and conditions for transporting children attending public schools.

    (2)

    The Board may not charge children attending private school using public school buses or conveyances an amount different from the amount charged children attending the public schools for the same kind of transportation.
