§ 21-9-101. AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY.
(a)
In general.
(1)
The powers granted to the county under this title and all regulations adopted in accordance with this title are granted and are to be exercised under, in accordance with, and by virtue of the police powers of the state.
(2)
All regulations adopted shall be for the protection of the health, morals, and for the general welfare of the people.
(b)
Designation of permitted and prohibited activities. The county may:
(1)
Designate and adopt regulations for the operation of the kinds and types of meets, contests, and events, including walkathons, dance marathons, and endurance contests, which may be operated in the county; and
(2)
Designate kinds and types of meets, contests, and events which may not be operated in the county as detrimental to the health, morals, and safety of the people and property of the county.
