§ 21-15-301. REQUIRED - IN GENERAL.
(a)
In general. Except as otherwise provided in this title, a person may not perform any plumbing or gasfitting work until the person has applied for and received a permit from the Department subject to the approval of the administrative authority.
(b)
Authority to apply for a permit. Only a master plumber-gasfitter, master gasfitter, on-site utility contractor, disposal system contractor, and water pump contractor is eligible to receive a permit.
(c)
Exception.
(1)
This section does not apply to work done by the holder of a master limited plumber-gasfitter license on the holder's premises, if the holder has obtained an annual plumbing or gasfitting permit from the Department.
(2)
No work may begin until the master limited plumber-gasfitter licensee has first obtained an annual plumbing or gasfitting permit from the Department.
