SubTitle 2. REGISTRATION |
§ 21-12-206. REGISTRATION PLATES AND TABS PROVIDED BY THE DEPARTMENT.
(a)
Number. When it registers a minibike, the Department shall issue to the owner one registration plate.
(b)
Contents of the plate.
(1)
The registration plate shall display:
(i)
The registration number assigned to the minibike for which it is issued; and
(ii)
The name of the county, which may be abbreviated.
(2)
The registration number shall be at least 3 inches high, with each stroke at least one-eighth of an inch wide.
(3)
The registration may consist of letters, numerals, or both.
(c)
Material. Registration plates shall be manufactured of a material warranted to have durability of at least 5 years.
(d)
Continued use of plates in subsequent years; validation tabs; substitute plates.
(1)
(i)
During the subsequent registration years, the Department may order the continued use of registration plates that are valid during any current registration year.
(ii)
After ordering continued use of the registration plates, the Department shall issue to the owner, at the time a minibike's registration is renewed, a validation tab to evidence payment of the minibike's annual registration fee.
(2)
The tab shall be displayed on the plates of the minibike in the manner that the Department requires.
(3)
(i)
The Department from time to time shall evaluate the condition of registration plates issued under this title and may provide for the manufacture and the issuance of new registration plates.
(ii)
The Department shall issue and validate the new registration plates in the manner required by this title.
