§ 19-1-202. POLICE CADETS.

  • (a)

    Appointment. The county may appoint as a police cadet in the Department an individual who is at least 18 years old but less than 21 years old at the time of employment and who qualifies in accordance with the standards adopted by the Chief of Police.

    (b)

    Duties and salary. A police cadet shall:

    (1)

    Perform the duties determined by the Chief of Police; and

    (2)

    Receive the salary specified in the county classification and compensation plan and as provided in the budget.

    (c)

    Limitations. A police cadet does not have the arrest powers granted a police officer by law and is not required to provide a bond.
