§ 13-7-308. SAME - MAINTENANCE; REMOVAL; REMODELING.

  • (a)

    Maintenance by owner. The owner of a rat-proof building shall:

    (1)

    Maintain the premises in a rat-proof condition; and

    (2)

    Repair all breaks or leaks that may occur in the rat-proofing even if the owner has not received specific notice from the County Health Officer.

    (b)

    Removal or rat-proofing prohibited. A person, including an owner, occupant, contractor, public utility company, plumber, or repairman, may not:

    (1)

    Remove and fail to restore in like condition the rat-proofing from a building for any purpose; or

    (2)

    Make new openings in a building that are not closed or sealed against the entrance of rats.

    (c)

    Construction, repair, and remodeling. A person may not construct, repair, or remodel a building or other structure or install something in a building or other structure unless the construction, repair, remodeling, or installation renders the building or other structure rat-proof.
