§ 3-4-303. DUTIES OF THE COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER.

  • (a)

    In general. The County Health Officer shall:

    (1)

    Coordinate the functions and operations of the Department of Health;

    (2)

    For the preservation of the public health in the county, give professional advice and information to the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the County Board of Health, and other health authorities that may properly demand and require the advice of and information from the County Health Officer;

    (3)

    Inquire into the health of the county population; and

    (4)

    Perform other duties relating to the health of the county population required by the County Board of Health.

    (b)

    Reports of diseases. Whenever the Health Officer receives a report of the existence of a malignant, contagious, or pestilential disease in the county, the Health Officer shall:

    (1)

    Investigate the report;

    (2)

    Ascertain, as correctly as possible, the causes of the disease;

    (3)

    Adopt measures to arrest its progress; and

    (4)

    Report in writing to the Secretary of the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene every circumstance in connection with the malignant, contagious, or pestilential disease.
