§ 3-3-305. MISCELLANEOUS POWERS AND DUTIES.

  • (a)

    Powers. The Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board shall possess all the powers necessary to carry out the provisions of this subtitle and Article 24 of the Code.

    (b)

    Duties. In addition to the duties prescribed in Article 24 of the Code and state law, the Board shall:

    (1)

    Make recommendations on areas of productive agricultural land and their inclusion within the county master plan as agricultural protection areas;

    (2)

    Recommend to the Department of Planning procedures for mediation or arbitration of disputes regarding the value of easements being considered for purchase by the county;

    (3)

    Perform other duties assigned by the County Council or County Executive;

    (4)

    Prepare or review recommendations to the County Council on county policies and programs for agricultural preservation and protection of agricultural soil resources;

    (5)

    Review and make recommendations to the Department of Permits, Approvals and Inspections on zoning regulation proposals that relate to agricultural uses including tenant buildings, farmer's roadside stands, and other agricultural issues;

    (6)

    Discuss and make recommendations to the County Council on programs to promote the agricultural industry in the county; and

    (7)

    Cooperate with county agencies and boards, the Cooperative Extension Service, and the Soil Conservation District in carrying out its responsibilities.
