§ 3-2-1402. APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIRECTOR AND OTHER PERSONNEL.

  • (a)

    County may appoint personnel.

    (1)

    There may be appointed:

    (i)

    A Director of Public Works; and

    (ii)

    Two Deputy Directors of Public Works.

    (2)

    The county may employ the personnel considered necessary for the proper administration of the Department of Public Works.

    (b)

    Qualifications of the Director.

    (1)

    The Director of Public Works, qualified and appointed in accordance with the requirements of this subsection and §§ 402 and 525 of the Charter, shall be an individual of broad experience and high standing in the engineering profession.

    (2)

    (i)

    First consideration shall be given to the qualifications of individuals who are graduates in engineering from a recognized college or technical school of collegiate grade.

    (ii)

    An individual who is not a graduate in engineering from a recognized college or technical school of collegiate grade may be appointed Director if the individual:

    1.

    Has not less than 15 years of experience in engineering; and

    2.

    Otherwise meets the requirements of § 525 of the Charter.

    (c)

    Qualifications of the deputies. The Deputy Directors of Public Works shall be professional engineers registered under the laws of the state.
