§ 35-6-105. LICENSE - REQUIRED.

  • (a)

    In general.

    (1)

    A property owner may not rent a dwelling unit or a portion of a dwelling unit unless the property owner has been issued a license as provided for in this title.

    (2)

    A tenant may not rent a dwelling unit or a portion of a dwelling unit to another tenant or a sub-tenant unless the tenant has been issued a license as provided for in this title.

    (b)

    Required licenses.

    (1)

    A license is required for each dwelling unit.

    (2)

    The Director shall determine at the sole discretion of the Director the number of dwelling units that are contained in a dwelling.

    (c)

    Issuance. The Director shall issue a license to each applicant that meets the requirements of this title.

    (d)

    Scope. A license authorizes a property owner or a tenant to rent a dwelling unit or a portion of a dwelling unit.
