§ 21-7-214. RESTRICTED ELECTRICIAN LICENSE - IN GENERAL.

  • (a)

    In general.

    (1)

    The Board shall issue a restricted electrician license to any person determined to be qualified by an examination given by the Board.

    (2)

    The license authorizes the holder to install, maintain, and repair the particular type or types of electrical equipment specified in the license as provided in subsection (b) of this section.

    (b)

    Specified electrical equipment.

    (1)

    Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, a restricted electrician license may authorize the holder to:

    (i)

    Install, maintain, and repair electrically operated heating furnaces, electrically operated air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, electrically operated elevators, electric display signs, and radios, televisions, and electronics;

    (ii)

    Provide motor repairs and motor services; or

    (iii)

    Maintain or repair, but not install, electrical household appliances.

    (2)

    A restricted electrician license may specify one, or when related, two of the items listed in paragraph (1) of this subsection.

    (c)

    Wiring. The holder of a restricted electrician license, not including a license issued for electrical household appliances, radios, televisions, electronics, motor repairs, and motor services, may install electrical wiring from the point of distribution to the equipment being installed.

    (d)

    Business. This license may be issued to any business if and so long as it has in its employ at least one holder of a restricted electrician's license.
