§ 19-1-101. DEFINITIONS.

(a)

In general. In this article the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)

Department. "Department" means the County Police Department.

(c)

Member of the Department.

(1)

"Member of the Department" means an individual employed by the Department.

(2)

"Member of the Department" includes a sworn or nonsworn employee of the Department.

(d)

Nonsworn employee. "Nonsworn employee" means a member of the Department other than a police officer.

(e)

Police officer.

(1)

"Police officer" means a member of the Department having and exercising the powers of a police officer as provided in this article.

(2)

"Police officer" does not include the Chief of Police.
