§ 18-2-205. FREIGHT LOADING ZONES.

  • (a)

    Authority in general. The county may establish "no parking" spaces in front of shipping or receiving entrances to businesses and apartment houses as provided in this section.

    (b)

    Application.

    (1)

    The owner or occupant of the building may submit to the Traffic Engineer an application for "no parking" spaces in front of the building.

    (2)

    The application shall include all relevant information and state the number of feet desired for "no parking" spaces.

    (c)

    Traffic Engineer's decision. The Traffic Engineer may:

    (1)

    Grant the application with restrictions and limitations that the Traffic Engineer considers proper; or

    (2)

    Refuse the application.

    (d)

    Conditions; withdrawal.

    (1)

    If the Traffic Engineer grants the application, the Traffic Engineer shall issue to the applicant a permit or certificate setting forth the location of the "no parking" space, the number of feet frontage fixed, and other limitations the Traffic Engineer considers necessary.

    (2)

    At any time, the Traffic Engineer may:

    (i)

    Withdraw the permit; or

    (ii)

    Further limit the permit.

    (e)

    Signs.

    (1)

    To enforce the provisions of a permit issued under this section, the permit holder:

    (i)

    May place "no parking" signs on the building marking the limits of the "no parking" space; and

    (ii)

    Shall paint, either on the curb, pavement, or roadway, appropriate signs or marks showing the limits of the "no parking" space.

    (2)

    A "no parking" sign shall be of a size, character, and description required by the Traffic Engineer and shall bear the number of the permit issued by the Traffic Engineer.

    (3)

    The permit holder shall erect the signs and paint the curb, pavement, or roadway under the direction of the Traffic Engineer and at permit holder's expense.
