§ 12-5-106. SAME — RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEALTH OFFICER.

  • (a)

    Order animal to shelter. If the owner of a domestic animal that has been involved in a bite contact or non-bite contact with a human fails or refuses to confine the domestic animal for observation as required under § 12-5-105 of this title, the Health Officer may order the impoundment of the domestic animal to the animal shelter for the duration of the confinement period.

    (b)

    Examination. At any time during the confinement and observation period under this section or § 12-5-105 of this title, the Health Officer may order a veterinary examination of a domestic animal to determine whether the animal may be symptomatic of rabies.
